Advantages of reverse osmosis-ion exchange combined with desalination

The reverse osmosis-ion exchange combined treatment method can reduce the influence of water source water quality change and reduce the regeneration frequency, thereby improving the flexibility and reliability of water treatment equipment operation, and also has a greater choice in water source selection. For example, the salt content of raw water is increased from 1000 mg/L to 1500 mg/L, and the working pressure of reverse osmosis equipment is 2.75 MPa, and the output is only reduced by 1%-2%. In the case of ion exchange equipment, the exchange capacity is inevitably severely reduced. This shows that the output of the reverse osmosis equipment has little to do with the water quality (the salt content of the raw water), and only changes in proportion to the difference in working pressure and the osmotic pressure difference determined by the water quality component. This is a big advantage of the reverse osmosis process.

The use of a reverse osmosis-ion exchange combined system for power plant boiler feed water treatment has many advantages.

(1) The amount of regenerant used in the ion exchange equipment can be reduced by 90%-95%, and the regenerant storage site can be greatly reduced.

(2) Since the reverse osmosis device can reduce the salt content of the raw water to the original 1/10-1/20, the salt leakage of the desalination equipment can be reduced, and the operation cycle can be extended.

(3) Water that is not suitable for ion exchange demineralization (such as raw water with high salt content, treated urban sewage, acid-contaminated water, etc.) may be used as the influent of desalination equipment.

(4) The desalination system can be simplified, and some water sources can meet the boiler water requirements even after the reverse osmosis treatment with mixed bed.

(5) Substances in which raw water is not easily removed by a general treatment method such as a colloidal substance, an organic substance, iron ions, silica, or the like can also be removed.

(6) Extend the service life of the ion exchange resin.

(7) Usually, the mixed bed effluent conductivity is 0.1 μS/cm.

(8) Improve the adaptability to water quality changes and the reliability of effluent quality.

(9) Since the amount of waste liquid discharged from the desalination equipment is reduced, it is conducive to environmental protection.
